I arose a new creation this morning after a full night's sleep and popped down for the hotel breakfast. We were greeted by an extensive selection of delicious offerings, of which I partook in many. Included on my plate were local Hungarian sausages and a wonderful stew of tomato, sweet peppers, onions, and of course, paprika! It was the perfect start to greeting many of our crew who would be arriving throughout the day.

After greeting travelers throughout the afternoon, Kitti and I had a break in the action and stepped across the street to the public park (dubbed Elizabeth Square after Empress Elisabeth of Austria (nicknamed Sisi)). We rode the beautiful Ferris Wheel and took in panoramic views of the city. Among the spectacular views, the most striking edifice I saw appeared to be just a short distance beyond the park--St. Stephen's Basilica. Shortly after our excursion, Kitti and I received a call letting us know that the US mandate requiring COVID testing prior to re-entry was to be lifted, and we jumped up and down right there on the sidewalk. The news traveled swiftly through the group and an hour later when we gathered for a meet and greet everyone joyfully toasted to the happy news. We then went off in small groups for dinner, and Team Miller and I enjoyed many traditional Hungarian dishes and local wine at a nearby restaurant. As night fell and we walked through the park back toward the hotel, I enjoyed my second ride of that day on the Ferris Wheel, this time by the glow of city lights. I knew then this beautiful city had made herself a home in my heart.
