The afternoon brought a relaxing sail from Bratislava to Vienna, during which we heard a lecture on the Austrian nobility. The highlight for many of us was observing the crew navigate through the boat lock just before Vienna, passing just literal inches from the outer lock wall on the port side and inches from a barge of new cars on the starboard side. It was absolutely fascinating to marvel at the engineering of the lock and the skillful navigation of our experienced crew. After passing through the channel we enjoyed an early dinner while the boat was being docked before boarding the coach to Albert Hall for an absolutely exquisite private Mozart and Strauss concert. We were all blown away by the orchestral, vocal, and performance talent of the chamber ensemble. Glowing from the experience, we returned to the ship for a late-night reception featuring delicious pretzels, frankfurters with mustards, and plenty of wine and sweets. What a perfect introduction to this amazing city!
